RULES AND REGULATIONS

- By entering the competition the entrant confirms that the recipe entered is his/her own or is entered on behalf of the recipe holder with his/her consent.
- The entrant agrees that the recipe and method submitted will not be altered in any way during the competition after it has been validated by the South African Chefs Association.
- The overall winner agrees to make his/her recipe available to the Shoprite Group of Companies for two years and acknowledges and accepts that Shoprite may produce and market said recipe at their discretion. If the winner is a butcher he/she may continue to use the recipe in his/her butchery but only under his/her own trademark.
- Participants must enter 1kg (one kilogram) of boerewors for the regional round and provincial round respectively.
- Participants must bring a typed version of their validated recipe to each round of the competition.
- At each judging stage of the competition organisers will require each participant’s signature on the validated recipe as an acknowledgement that the same recipe is being used. Failure to sign will result in immediate disqualification.
- The Shoprite Group of Companies agrees that the entrants’ recipes will be treated as confidential and only the overall winner’s recipe will be used.
- The competition is open to all boerewors makers in South Africa, including independent butchers and Meat Market managers of the Shoprite Group of Companies.
- Entrants can only participate at rounds situated within their province of residence.
- Participants are responsible for their own transport to and from the regional and provincial rounds. The Shoprite Group of Companies will be responsible for the transportation of the finalists to and from the finale at Sun City.
- The Shoprite Group of Companies will be responsible for the finalists’ accommodation at Sun City for the finale.
- Participants in the different rounds must be prepared to be photographed or filmed for publicity purposes, if required.
- Prizes may not be exchanged for cash.
- The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
